316L Stainless Steel Coil
AISI 316L stainless steel coils are inventoried in 0.3mm to 16mm thickness and 1000mm to 2500mm width. Wider width is also available according to customer's requirement.
316L 2B stainless steel coils and 316L BA stainless steel coils are the most common products in Shanghai Yila . We always stock them for more than 2000 Tons.
316L stainless steel coil, also named as 1.4404 stainless steel, is an austenitic stainless steel which belongs to Cr-Ni-Mo stainless steel family. Low carbon content for 316L grade stainless steel makes it show better resistance against intergranular corrosion after welding.
316L stainless steel coil can be used in applications with increased demand for corrosion resistance because of its molybdenum content.
The typical applications of this kind of coil includes equipment in the chemical and petrochemical industry, pulp and paper industry equipment, textile industry equipment, food and beverage industry equipment, pharmaceutical industry equipment, medical applications.

Fabrications of 316L Stainless Steel |
Cold Forming of 316L Stainless Steel | AISI316L / EN 1.4404 stainless steel can be readily formed and processed using a full range of cold forming operations. It can be used in heading, drawing, bending. Any cold forming operations will increase the strength and hardness of the material. |
Hardening of 316L Stainless Steel | AISI316L / EN 1.4404 stainless steel can be hardened by heat treatment. However, it can be hardened by cold forming. |
Hot Forming of 316L Stainless Steel | Hot forming can be carried out in the 850℃ ~ 1150℃ range. For maximum corrosion resistance, forgings should be annealed at 1070℃ and rapidly cooled in the air or water after hot forming operatins. |
Annealing of 316L Stainless Steel | Quench annealing should be performed at 1030℃ to 1110℃ and followed by rapid cooling in water or air. In applications where high residual stresses cannot be accepted, stress relief treatment may be necessary. |
Machining of 316L Stainless Steel | AISI316L / EN 1.4404 stainless steel is more difficult to machine than ordinary carbon steels but are still comparatively easier than more highly alloyed stainless grades. 316L stainless steel requires higher cutting forces than carbon steels, and it shows resistance to chip breaking, and a high tendency to built-up edge formation. |
Welding of 316L Stainless Steel | AISI316L / EN 1.4404 stainless steel has excellent weldability and it is suitable for the full range of conventional welding methods, such as MMA, MIG, MAG, TIG, SAW, LBW, or RSW, except gas welding. In order to fully restore the corrosion resistance of weld seam, the weld discoloration should be removed by pickling and passivation. |
